I went to a museum with a veteran last week. It was going to be expensive - like $65 for the two of us. But I really really wanted to see this museum.

“Do you have a veteran’s discount?” I ask the dude at the ticketing desk, expecting, at most, a $2-$4 discount.

Instead, a three-minute response about how it’s a crime that they don’t have a veteran’s discount, his parents served, his brothers served, they should have a veteran’s discount, he will give us a veteran’s discount, thank you so much for your service, your total is $32. 

I promptly flushed and stammered several thankyous and stole his pen after signing the receipt.
